Description
Gum Turpentine Oil, widely traded as GTO and also called turpentine oil, oil of turpentine or spirits of turpentine, is obtained by steam distillation of pine oleoresin, the natural exudate collected from living pine trees. Because it comes from living resin rather than from wood pulping, it carries a cleaner odour profile and a higher pinene content than wood turpentine.
It serves two markets at once: as a solvent and thinner in its own right, and as the raw material from which most of our downstream terpene products are made.
